Helping the youth

Haiti is only about 800 miles and 2 hours by plane from us ...but a world away from anything we know or experience with the most crushing poverty imaginable. Our collective efforts will help give some children a better chance of braking this cycle of poverty.

In June, six members of the Chapel drove to Miami airport with 600 pounds of supplies between them – not counting their carry on, personal items. Why? To provide a week's summer camp to 285 Haitian children.

This is the Chapel's sixth mission to Institution Univers in Ouanaminthe, Haiti. The full team includes 9 from Tennessee and 2 from New Jersey. We couldn't be more excited as we meet together each week to plan, prepare and pray. Bible stories are drawn from the Story of Joseph which begins in Genesis 37.

Thanks to the generosity of the Chapel, our supplies include a generous amount of medical supplies for the Univers Medical Clinic as well. The clinic was completed in 2006 and is an integral part of the overall mission.
