The Schantz Pipe Organ

The future is almost here ...

Exciting news about our future organ. . . The current organ, a twenty year old Allen, had been showing signs of breaking down for a few years. The Siesta Key Chapel Organ Search Committee was assembled in March of 2015 to assess and weigh in on the alternatives.  After many hours of research and visits and consultations from organ builders and electronic organ companies, the committee recommended to acquire a pipe organ.

The session voted in favor in January 2016.The Chapel organ will be a two-manual and pedal 18 stop 21 rank instrument built by the Schantz Organ Company. It is currently being installed and will be dedicated on Sunday, March 19th, 2017.

The Schantz Organ Company, founded in 1873, is the largest and oldest American pipe organ builder still under management of the founding family. Combining his inventive skills with a love of music, A. J. Tschantz (which later became “Schantz) began building pipe organs, first for individual home use, then for churches.  Currently, the company is run by the fourth generation of the family.  The Schantz Organ Company has been in the same facility since 1901, and many changes and additions have been made in order to accommodate the demands of more building, including a three-story assembly room in 1993.  The company’s headquarters is in Orrville, Ohio.
